Fizzy MoonBeam

Fizzy MoonBeam:

Welcome Back Faithful Reader,

I trust that no doubt you have been working on your own Toddy and Tonic Combinations… Well if you Have not been Working on the Delectable Thing that is a Toddy or Tonic, I’ve got Something New to share with you. Now Since we have only been working on Toddies as of lately, I have decided that I am going to Debut my first Attempt at the Tonic. Now it’s Nothing Fancy, but it is very classy—and a sure shot way to Keep your Spirits High on these Ethereal Autumn Days. I’m not Going to Stray too Far from the original concepts of a tonic, a little spirit a little fizz, and a whole Wealth of Health.  So without further adieu…let’s Make this Damn Thing. You will Need:

  •  1oz Jim Beam Bourbon Whiskey
  • 8oz Herbal White Tea
  • 4oz Red Rock Ginger Ale
  • Tsp Honey
  • 1 Mint Leaf
  • Pinch Cracked Black Pepper
  • Drink Shaker

First step In the construction of this Tonic is brewing the tea.  Bring one cup of water to a rolling boil, then add White Tea, Honey, Mint,  and Pepper to pot. Stir quickly and remove from heat. Cover and allow mixture to steep and cool. When mixture has cooled, strain mint and Pepper from the tea, and place tea in the refrigerator. While tea cools further, mix 1oz of Bourbon with 4oz of Ginger Ale. Then pour off 3ozs of Tea into Bourbon/Ginger Mix, cover and shake quickly. Pour and serve slightly chilled.

This Tonic makes a Great Around the House Drink, high in antioxidants and natural calming properties. Black Pepper works to excite the body’s natural Mojo, exciting the blood vessels of the Body and promoting Better Circulation. Also this Tonic makes  a great Showcase For Fall Dinner Parties, or simply unwinding Alone. The Fizzy MoonBeam is a Tonic Drinkers Tonic.I Look Forward to Next Time Readers, and I thank You For Dropping by. Best Wishes On Your Journeys.

South Cider Toddy

South Cider:

Welcome Again Faithful Readers and Elixir Lovers, today’s Post is Going to Feature Something a Little Different, and Perhaps for Some a Little Stranger. Today is going to Encompass Some of My favorite Flavor Pairings for the Season. For this Tonic we are Going to Explore the Crisp Flavors of Apple, paired with the Smooth Oak Flavors of Bourbon Whiskey. And just for color and Finish, infuse with Chamomile and Honey.  Now As the Season Gets into the Colder Leg of its Cycle, folks Tend to make their way indoors, and Thus find that “Burrowing” is the most common Activity. I say Nay to the Notion that One Must remain Dormant and Cold. Take Advantage of the Instinct to Burrow, and Have a Burrowing Themed Party…What I am Getting at Is: Invite a few Friends through for a Burrow Down Party and Shake The Cold Weather. I Hope in the Process You May Find that a South Cider is Just the drink to Warm Your Bones. All the Item You Need for this Rounded Remedy are as Follows:

  • 1oz  Early Times 354 Bourbon Whiskey
  • 2oz  Apple Cider
  • 8oz Brewed Chamomile Tea
  • 1tsp Pure Honey
  • 1 Whole Cinnamon Stick

The Infusing of the Flavors Come Best I find When the Whole of the Ingredients are Able to Simmer together. First Bring 1 Cup  of Water to A Boil, then Add Chamomile Tea Bags and allow Tea Time to Properly Brew And Steep, after Tea has reached maximum potential add Cinnamon Stick, Honey, Bourbon, and Cider to the Tea. Simmer Ingredients While Stirring for 2-3 minutes.  After Ingredients have Become Fully Integrated, Simply Pour and Enjoy.

I Thank You All Again for Stopping By, and I look Forward To Our Next Leg of the Journey.

The Rustic Rye Toddy

The Rustic Rye Toddy:

The entire Concept and Inspiration for this blog came from this Impromptu Toddy combination that came to me One Night as My Beautiful Girlfriend and I were Sitting in the Sunroom Sniffling. After having ingested three packs of Emergen-C , several cups of Herbal Tea, and what felt like Half a Dozen cold Medicine Tablets through the course of My eight hour Work Day—- I finally decided that Something “Unconventional” was in need. Then, like an Ethereal Epiphany, it came to me…Why not Utilize the Myriad of Teas in the Cupboard and the Rye Whiskey in the Ice Box ? Toddies have worked for Centuries for a myriad of Medicinal and Aesthetic  Purposes; therefore the Common Sniffle should be no match for this Elixir. That’s when My Path to the Kitchen led me on the Journey into My New World of Toddies and Tonics…

The Construction of a Toddy or Tonic is not a Task that Should be Approached with any Fear or Apprehension. Most Commoners have the Ingredients for a solid Toddy (or at least a semi decent Cup of Tea) just Lying around the Cupboards. The most important Fundamentals in the Concoction of Said Beverages are Robust and  Aromatic Elements. Don’t be Afraid to Experiment with Earthy Ground Spices like Cinnamon or Clove. These are two of the Most Common Spices used as the coming Fall Season brings Pumpkin Pies and Candied Yam. Toddies can also be well Accented with Fresh Herbs such as Mint and Fresh Basil Leave. The Endless Possibility of Combinations ensures that the Journey will Take us Through many Doorways of the Palate. But for the first Leg of our Journey, I am going to showcase my First Signature Toddy; The Rustic Rye.

To Make This Toddy One will Need:

  • 8ozs Brewed Yogi Calming Tea
  • Dash of Ground Clove
  • Dash of Ground Cinnamon
  • 1oz Jim Beam Rye Whiskey
  • Splash of Lemon Juice
  • Dash of Honey

*Combine Clove, Cinnamon, Rye Whiskey, Lemon Juice, and Honey in your Favorite Mug or Drinking Vessel and stir Lightly to a Slightly Homogenous Specimen. Pour Hot Brewed Yogi Tea into Said Mixture and stir again until Honey has been Reduced. Leisurely Drink, and Passionately enjoy the Moments that Progress, until Nothing Remains in your Tankard.

The Rustic Rye Toddy is one that I find aids in Warming the Body and Soul, and Medicinally aids in Reducing Flu Like Symptoms.  Traditionally a Toddy would use a Bourbon to Add a Full Oak Body to the Drink, but in the Case of a Rye the Soft Spice of the Whiskey accompanies the Earthy Tones of the Clove and Cinnamon. Since the Goal of this Toddy was to Relax and Soothe, I settled for a Simplistic and Subtle pairing of Flavors. Honey Softens the Finish of the Beverage to Smooth and Sweeten the Bold Earth Tones of the Toddy.  Elegance does not Always equate to Extravagance, keep it Basic… and well, you will Basically always have a Terrific Toddy or Tonic. I Love You all and I Thank you Once Again for Dropping By my Page.
